Lego Fortnite Adds Big New Star Wars World This Week

LEGO Fortnite, the construction and survival module within the realm of Fortnite, is set to unveil an expansive new Star Wars-themed segment on Friday, the 3rd of May.

This enduring enhancement is part of a galaxy-wide Star Wars festival crossing all four of Epic Games' distinguished Fortnite variations: the renowned battle royale, the LEGO-centric version, Rocket Racing, and the Fortnite Festival. Yet, the block-based version promises to be the standout attraction.

An entire Star Wars-infused LEGO World is poised to be accessible in the LEGO-centric mode, providing a Rebel outpost that players can develop and expand utilizing Star Wars-themed components and resources, complete with iconic Star Wars personas.

Players can discover Imperial outposts near the remnants of a downed Star Destroyer, wield LEGO versions of lightsabers and assorted gear, and construct notable Star Wars edifices, like the Mos Eisley cantina.

This significant update for LEGO Fortnite is one that Epic Games confirms will remain beyond this Friday's anticipated content release, setting it apart from the brief seasonal content in Fortnite, which tends to vanish from the main battle royale island following each in-game event or promotional collaboration.

A potential drawback is the separate nature of this LEGO Star Wars world – it exists apart from any LEGO worlds that players might have already constructed. Consider it a standalone LEGO Fortnite chapter or a specially tailored gameplay variant.

This addition comes at no additional cost, although an event pass-on offer provides a suite of LEGO Fortnite constructions for players' worlds. It includes a premium tier featuring a Chewbacca character skin, usable in the battle royale mode, priced at 1400 V-Bucks – approximately equivalent to ten pounds. This is the inaugural pass for the LEGO mode, and it's expected that many gamers will acquire it, especially for the Chewbacca skin in the battle royale. At the same time, the LEGO features encourage a return to the LEGO mode.

Regarding other variants, the primary battle royale mode will integrate Chewbacca as an AI ally wielding his signature Wookie Bowcaster for a limited period. Darth Vader will also reappear on the island as a formidable opponent, relinquishing his lightsaber as a Mythic item (seemingly the exclusive lightsaber in this round of battle royale).

In Fortnite Festival, Epic's rhythm game collaboration with Harmonix, players can groove to the Cantina Band tune and unlock Star Wars-themed musical instruments. Over in Rocket Racing, developed by Psyonix, pod racing enhancements and Darth Maul-inspired adornments are up for grabs, as well as a car designed after The Mandalorian.
