Guardians of Power: The New Age of Infinity Watch Unveiled
Dec-10-2024
A new era is upon us as the latest squad dedicated to the Infinity Stones prepares to confront fresh adversaries in the much-anticipated release of Infinity Watch #1. This ongoing series will feature a mix of newly introduced characters who have recently gained the powers of the iconic Infinity Stones, alongside a familiar face adopting an intriguing new position. Phil Coulson now takes on the role of the steward of the newly created Death Stone, standing as the guardian of the delicate boundary between existence and oblivion.
As the countdown to the first issue continues, readers can get a glimpse of what's in store for this ensemble cast. Among the dazzling visuals crafted by the skilled team, including writer Derek Landy, artist Ruairí Coleman, inker Scott Hanna, along with colorists Brian Reber and Erick Arciniega, as well as letterer Cory Petit, the narrative teases a thrilling exploration of power dynamics within this new team.
In terms of strength rankings, the narrative boldly proclaims that when it comes to who possesses the most might, traditional figures may need to step aside. These seven individuals now command the embodiment of true power throughout the cosmos—THE INFINITY STONES. With their group split down the middle, half embodying villainy and the other not quite fitting the heroic mold, the stakes are impossibly high for the Marvel Universe. If Star has a say in things, it might soon be referred to as the Star Universe. Amid this turbulence, can Colleen Wing or Phil Coulson play a pivotal role in fostering positivity?
The complete team comprises Multitude (Soul Stone), Prince of Might (Might Gem), Duration (Time Gem), Dimensional (Space Gem), Celestial (Reality Gem), Colleen Wing (Intellect)), and of course, Phil Coulson—providing ample opportunity for conflict and collaboration.
Landy shared insights into the challenges of crafting a harmonious team dynamic. He articulated that writing a cohesive group where characters consistently gel is far more complex than portraying a squad embroiled in disputes. Despite this balance being fragile, he aims to give all characters their due attention while maintaining the overarching narrative focus on the collective. He cleverly notes that character disagreements can reveal much about their personalities, which allows him to achieve multiple objectives with each scene.
Mark your calendars, as Infinity Watch #1 will be available for purchase on December 11. This latest iteration revives the spirit of the original Infinity Watch, a central element to the legendary Infinity Gauntlet crossover, recognized as one of the greatest stories within Marvel Comics’ rich legacy.
