Dying Light: The Beast Unveiled at Gamescom 2024 with New Powers and a Standalone Adventure

At the recent Gamescom 2024's Opening Night Live event, a thrilling announcement captured the audience's attention. Developer Techland introduced Dying Light: The Beast, featuring an impressive debut trailer that set the stage for excitement.

This spin-off offers a more condensed journey, estimated to last around 18-20 hours. Players will once again follow protagonist Kyle Crane, who has seemingly acquired new and formidable powers. The game promises to retain the signature parkour dynamics and engaging combat against the undead that fans have come to expect from the franchise.

As detailed in a press release from Techland, Dying Light: The Beast presents an exciting standalone adventure set in a meticulously designed rural environment. Known as Castor Woods, this region has been overwhelmed by zombies and other menacing creatures. The expansive setting features natural landscapes, quaint villages, and industrial zones, providing players with a variety of movement options, whether it’s leveraging parkour skills to best their foes or escaping in an abandoned vehicle under the cover of darkness.

Having been trapped and experimented upon for an extended period, Kyle has gained some extraordinary abilities. While specific skills remain under wraps, they are sure to introduce fresh elements to the traditional Dying Light gameplay.

Additionally, players who purchased the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2: Stay Human will be granted access to Dying Light: The Beast without any additional fee. Techland revealed that this title originally began as a downloadable content expansion, but after two years of development, it has transformed into a full-fledged, standalone game.

Currently, there is no specific release date for Dying Light: The Beast, but Techland assures fans that further information about the game and its launch will be shared later this year. The game will be released as a standalone title for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
